Krug Abandons 1999 Clos du Mesnil

Krug has confirmed a last minute decision not to release its 1999 Clos du Mesnil.

The 12,000 bottles produced from this 1.84 hectare Chardonnay vineyard had already been bottled and labelled in line with the original plan to release the Champagne at the end of 2011. However cellar master Eric Lebel explained that, having monitored the wine’s evolution over the last 12 years, it “was not at the level we expected”.....
